MATRIS ROBOTIC

Monthly Newsletter – October 2026

October Highlights | Building Skills, Inspiring

This month, Matris Robotic brought hands-on robotics, AI & coding, engineering and creative technology experiences to students across London and beyond. From after-school clubs and community workshops to international online projects, students explored new ideas, developed practical skills and turned their learning into exciting projects.

Inspiring Young Engineers Through Our After-School Clubs

Throughout October, our after-school robotics clubs continued across schools in different parts of London. Students worked on a variety of projects suited to their experience and ability, following step-by-step instructions in some sessions and taking a more creative approach in others.

Students also had opportunities to apply what they had learned, develop their own ideas, build robots and bring their designs to life. These sessions encouraged independent thinking, problem-solving and learning through experimentation.

Celebrating Ada Lovelace Day with 90 Students

On 13 October, we welcomed 90 students for a special STEM workshop celebrating Ada Lovelace Day and the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The event gave students an opportunity to explore technology through practical activities, encouraging curiosity, creativity and an interest in the possibilities of STEM.

Bringing STEM to Local Communities

On 26 October, we delivered three different hands-on workshops in collaboration with the London Borough of Merton, offering creative learning experiences for children with different interests and abilities.

From exploring the natural world through a dragonfly-themed robotics activity to designing London landmarks and imagining a Smart City, students used technology and engineering to investigate ideas, solve challenges and create their own projects.

Each workshop encouraged curiosity, creative thinking and practical problem-solving, allowing students to learn by designing, building and experimenting.

International Online Learning: From Coding to Engineering

Our online classes continued throughout October, covering robotics, electronics, coding and AI, with students developing their technical skills through practical projects and creative challenges.

From Smart Strawberry Farm to CREST Award Recognition

Over several months, students have been developing a Smart Strawberry Farm project, exploring how technology, coding and engineering can be used to monitor growing conditions and support automated plant care.

We are delighted that their work has been recognised through the British Science Association’s CREST Awards, with students receiving certificates in recognition of their project achievements.

Connecting History with Engineering: Designing a Medieval Castle

As part of a Year 5 History project, one student explored the design of medieval castles and how kings and lords protected their land. Through digital design at Matris Robotic, the student brought this historical topic to life by creating a castle design inspired by the engineering principles behind medieval fortifications.

The design included key defensive features such as a moat, a keep and a drawbridge, exploring how these structures helped protect castles from attack. By combining historical learning with digital design and engineering, the project encouraged creativity, spatial thinking and problem-solving.

Saturday Workshops and Regular Classes

Every Saturday in October, we welcomed young learners to workshops at our new Matris Robotic venue. Each session offered opportunities to explore technology, experiment with ideas and develop practical skills in a supportive learning environment.

Our regular Friday evening classes also continued, alongside a variety of online learning sessions. Across these programmes, students explored different areas of technology and worked on projects suited to their learning journeys.

Halloween Workshops and Autumn Half-Term

Halloween Workshops

In October, we celebrated Halloween through special robotics workshops delivered in collaboration with an international company. Students explored technology through engaging, hands-on activities, combining creativity, problem-solving and practical learning in a fun Halloween-themed experience.

Autumn Half-Term: Five Days of Learning

During the autumn half-term, we delivered a five-day programme of online and in-person workshops, giving students the opportunity to explore Robotics, AI and Coding, Electronics, 3D Design and STEM projects. Each day introduced new challenges and learning opportunities, helping students develop new skills, experiment with ideas and build their confidence through practical activities.

Looking Ahead: New Workshop Collaborations

This month, we began planning a new collaboration with a Turkish company to bring a group of students to London for a series of full-day workshops. The programme will give students the opportunity to explore robotics, coding, AI and engineering through practical, hands-on learning experiences.

We look forward to welcoming the students to London and sharing more about this international collaboration as the plans progress.

We are also preparing a range of special Christmas workshops for schools and community venues. These sessions will give students the opportunity to explore robotics and technology through festive, hands-on activities. We look forward to working with more schools and organisations to bring creative learning experiences to children during the Christmas season.
