STEM Workshops for DT and Computing Courses

If your school is looking for STEM enrichment workshops to enhance the curriculum and bring hands-on learning into the classroom through robotics and coding, we’d love to hear from you. We have STEM workshops for Primary and Secondary Schools based on Robotics and coding & AI designed as complementery hands on extension to the DT and computing courses.
We also have CPD training for teachers who want to strengthen their coding curriculum or completely transform it with opportunities for cross-curricular integration. Our coding sessions not only build digital skills but also support literacy, maths, and science. With our proven hands-on approach, children learn more effectively, stay engaged, and achieve higher outcomes.

Our Services for Schools

At Matris Robotic, we offer hands-on workshops designed to complement Design and Technology (DT) and computing courses in primary and secondary schools. These workshops integrate robotics, coding, electronics, and AI, enriching the learning experience while inspiring creativity and fostering practical skills tailored to different age groups.
Our services for schools include:
  1. Consultation: We collaborate with DT teachers to understand specific course goals for primary and secondary students.
  2. Customized Content: Tailored sessions to complement your DT course at any key stage.
  3. Expert Delivery: Delivered by experienced educators at your school or online.

How Our Workshops Complement DT Courses

Supports DT objectives with real-world applications of technology for all key stages.
Students design and build projects using tools like Microbit, Arduino, and servo motors, tailored to suit primary and secondary learners.
Encourages students to create prototypes for real-world challenges such as assistive devices, smart cities, and sustainable technologies.
Fosters teamwork through large-scale activities integrating robotics, coding, and electronics.
Activities designed to engage younger students in foundational concepts and older students in advanced problem-solving.

Sample Workshop Topics

Green Energy

students build small wind turbines that convert kinetic energy into electrical energy. The turbines are connected to a light bulb, and by manually spinning the turbine blades (simulating wind), the generated energy lights up the bulb. This activity not only teaches students about renewable and clean energy concepts but also emphasizes the importance of green energy and environmental preservation by reducing pollution and conserving natural resources.

Artificial Hand

Secondary school students explore movement and control by programming servo motors with the BBC Micro:bit. This workshop introduces core robotics concepts through practical, hands-on learning.

Smart Mobile Robot

Students learn to design and program robots that use sensors to navigate independently, introducing them to real-world applications of robotics and artificial intelligence.

Smart Agricultural Robot

Students design and build a robot with soil moisture sensors that can monitor plant health and automate irrigation systems. This hands-on project introduces how robotics and smart technology are applied in real-world farming innovations, inspiring solutions for sustainable agriculture.

Smart City Prototyping

Based on Central London, participants design and build a miniature city centered on green energy principles. Rooftop solar panels provide clean energy for lighting and services, demonstrating how cities can integrate renewable technologies. The workshop emphasizes sustainable urban planning and environmental protection.

Scratch and Python Coding

In Coding course, step-by-step, students learn core programming concepts, loops, conditionals and variables and instantly see their ideas come to life on screen through interactive projects and simulations.
