A Week of Creativity, Robotics, and STEM Learning
This week at Matris Robotic was filled with hands-on building, coding, and innovation. From after-school clubs to international online classes, our learners explored exciting new concepts, tackled challenges with creativity, and brought their ideas to life through robotics.
Highlights of the Week
• Built a helicopter robot in the After School Club, learning its movement mechanisms.• Designed and tested a robot airplane in a Creative Online Session, from idea to working model.
• Explored electronics and coding in Scratch, including project selection for the upcoming STEM competition hosted by the British Science Association.
• Learned about mechanical balance by building see-saws in after-school clubs.
• Explored creative design by turning the concept of a mixer into a moving robot.
• In Advanced Coding, programmed a humidity sensor with Micro: bit.
• Built a robot car and studied how real-world motion mechanisms work.
This Week’s Journey
We started the week on Monday with our After School Club, where children followed building instructions to create a helicopter robot. Together with their teacher, they explored how its movement mechanism works in practice.
On Tuesday, our International Online Classes took us around the world once again.
- In the Creative Session, learners came up with the idea of a robot airplane, designed it step by step, solved problems during testing, and finally brought it to life.
- In the Robotics & Electronics Class, children learned how to program in Scratch without instructions, developing problem-solving skills while also choosing projects for the STEM competition hosted by the British Science Association.
- In the third Robotics Class, we introduced the design of a robot dog and discussed how jumping and movement mechanisms could be applied.
Later that day, we also had a meeting with Newham London Council to plan a special STEM workshop for Half-Term. Out of five proposed themes, we selected Smart City with Solar Panels as the final project.
On Wednesday and Thursday, our after-school clubs continued. Children built see-saw robots to understand the concept of balance, while half of Thursday’s session was dedicated to creativity time. Here, learners explored how everyday machines can inspire robotics; they studied the idea of a mixer, reimagined it as a robot, and successfully brought it to motion.
Finally, the week closed with an exciting Saturday. In our Advanced Coding Class, learners programmed a humidity sensor with Micro: bit, discovering how coding and hardware interact in real-world applications. Meanwhile, in another workshop, children built a robot car, examining the mechanics of motion just like in real vehicles.
